Barney's Farm

The story of Barney’s Farm begins in the 1980s, when Derry Brett set out across Asia and the Middle East in search of rare and authentic cannabis genetics. His journey led him to Afghanistan, Tibet, Pakistan, India, and Thailand, where he collected landrace cannabis strains—distinctive varieties that have naturally adapted to their local environments over generations. These landraces are highly sought after for their pure genetic traits and serve as the foundation for many of today’s most respected strains.

To master the art of cannabis cultivation, Derry dedicated three years to the Himalayas, carefully growing and crossbreeding these landrace plants. He meticulously selected specimens for their high THC, unique aromas, and exceptional flavours. Upon his return to Amsterdam in 1992, Derry took the helm at Barney’s Coffee Shop and began using his Himalayan seed stock to develop new strains. Barney’s Farm rapidly rose to prominence, earning acclaim for its ground-breaking genetics and a string of Cannabis Cup victories. Today, Barney’s Farm remains a global leader in the cannabis world, celebrated for its ongoing innovation and quality.
